ICC World Cup Cricket 2011 -- NZ VS SA (3rd QF)

NEW ZEALAND 221/8 (50)   SOTH AFRICA 172 (43.2)
PLAYER OF THE MATCH     JACOB ORAM

New Zealand secured a surprise ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 semi-final berth with a thrilling 49-run victory over South Africa in Dhaka on Friday. The Black Caps were first thankful to Jesse Ryder (83) and Ross Taylor (43), who rescued them from 16 for two at one stage and helped them post 221 for eight. And Jacob Oram and Nathan McCullum then combined superbly with the ball to bowl the Proteas out for 172, as their last six batsmen were dismissed for just 51 runs. New Zealand now await the winners of tomorrow's quarter-final clash between England and Sri Lanka.
The game was very well in the favour of the Proteas and it was for them to lose. They were cruising at one moment with Kallis and de Villiers going great guns but once they departed the innings suffered a mega collapse with last 8 wickets falling for just 64 runs. The writing was on the wall, though Faf du Plessis(36) gave a late heist and scared the Kiwis to snatch the win away but it was destined to be the day for Men in Black and they scored the win. Jacob Oram with a four-fer was the chief tormentor and was ably supported by Nathan McCullum. What a fantastic display of bowling and fielding by the Black Caps to outclass South Africa by 49 runs and enter into the semi-final!
