Broadcom has announced the BCM2157 dual-core baseband processor for Smartphone’s that promises high performance also in low-end terminals especially for 3G Android devices. Broadcom (BCM2157) baseband dual-core processor contains 500 MHz power, with a lower price than its competitors in its class. The chip also supports 3G modem for 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity, compatibility with HVGA multi-touch display, a 5MP camera and has the ability to use dual-SIM. It also offers dual-core ARM processors for simultaneous applications processing and dedicated modem support. Some other features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and NFC solutions are also supported. Broadcom says that the BCM2157 is sampling now and is expected to launch commercially in first quarter of 2011. Let see how it attracts the audience, you can share your views in comments.
